"Luck is the residue of design"   Branch Rickey (1881 - 1965)

I spent the first 10 years of my life running barefoot around the village in rural Fiji.  Despite the fact my village has no electricity, I was first inspired by the big screen when I sat on the grass outside the old church and watched my first film.  I have little memory of what the film was, but this experience at 6 years old changed my life.  It began a life long love of good films!!

I moved with my family to New Zealand when I was 10 yrs old, and in the practice of Catholic Schooling I followed my brothers to Sacred Heart College.  But in my late teens, I left the tradition of the rugby field and the ring for the inspiration of the mountains and rivers.  It was here that I bought a Pentax SP1000 camera off a friend for $100 and somehow acquired my brother’s video camera.  These became my tools.

Extreme Adventure Sports, Mountaineering and Rock Climbing, this love for the outdoors and a passion for film/photography opened the door into the movie industry working as a stunt performer and then coordinating my first feature film in 1997 “The Climb”.  This then led on to working with Peter Jackson on “The Two Towers” in 2002 and “Return of the King” in 2003. Having begun my career in Auckland, I now reside in Wellington with my wife, Tanya and our two small stunt performers, Taika and Riko.
